Notre Dame-Miami rivalry to resume

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) ? A person familiar with the negotiations tells The Associated Press that Notre Dame and Miami are close to a deal for a three-game series, starting with a game at Soldier Field in 2012 and continuing with a home-and-home likely in 2014 and 2016.

The person, speaking on condition of anonymity because no deal has been signed, tells The AP that talks have gone on for several weeks and both schools hope the deal can be completed soon.

In the mid to late 80's and early 90's this would have been big news...not so much anymore.

Miami is preseason #13 and alot of peoples dark horse for the national title. Notre Dame just made a great hire. By 2012, this could be a very significant game.

This kind of surprises me because it's basically a two-for-one in favor of ND. Soldier Field is hardly a "neutral" site.

It could play out to be that way... I'm a huge Irish fan, and I'm excited for this game. I'm excited whenever Notre Dame gets good BCS team to play, instead of all this crappy small schools. I don't care if they're getting beat black and blue, it's good for those kids to play some top competition.

awesome move for UM, they get to beat up on Notre Dame and earn cred for it.

i see Miami on the up and up, while ND is still gonna be bad for a while.

i hope Da U beats them by 40 every year, I hate ND.
